This unique residence is built in the West Wing of the original
building ‘La Real Fabrica de Artilleria de Carlos III’, which
manufactured cannon balls used during the Great Siege of
Gibraltar 1779 – 1783 and the Indies wars, hence its name:

“La Fabrica de Bombas”.

It is situated on the outskirts of the bustling village of
Jimena de la Frontera, one of the famous ‘White Villages’ of
Andalusia, with the river Hozgarganta (which was channelled to drive, via a water wheel, the machinery of the factory) flowing in front.
There is a backdrop of dramatic craggy rocks, the top of which is crowned by a ruined Moorish Castle (see photo above).

The ground floor, which sleeps five/six, consists of a
well-equipped kitchen, which is open plan with the spacious
living/dining room. There are two bedrooms; one with an en-suite bathroom and room for a cot if required, the other bathroom is adjacent to the second bedroom, with access from a passage off the living room. For extra comfort the bedrooms have ceiling fans for the lovely hot summer months and central heating panels for the cooler evenings out of season. The living room has built in air-conditioning/heating and a wood burning fire. From the living room, or passage, you enter an inner courtyard dining area, with stairs up to the walled garden and large kidney shaped swimming pool.

The first floor accommodation, which is an optional extra for large family parties or friends sharing, has its own balcony looking out towards the river and stairs connecting to the ground floor accommodation and to the walled garden and swimming pool. The accommodation on the first floor consists of a small kitchen/dining room, large living room with a very comfortable drop down double bed, bathroom with shower over and bedroom with two single beds and room for a cot if required.
